Once a week?

The committee report notes that it would take a lot of organization and a lot of work hours to institute a daily herd check. But if we did it once/week, midweek — Weds? — during the non-feeding season, that would be only one herd check per year per member horse space. I think that is worth a try.
daily check
Seems like a very good idea – I u sually look around when I’m there anyway. You never know when one of the horses might need our help.

In favor of herd checks
Herd checks can only benefit our horses. I am in favor of incorporating herd checks into OHA practices in non-feeding months. Perhaps we handle these checks similarly to the way we handle feeding–each member is responsible for a certain number of herd checks above their work hour requirement, choose days and must sign out that they’ve checked the herd. I suggest we start with checks twice a week.

Herd Checks
I am not in favor of adding daily herd checks for work hours.
