Please fill out the hours in the work hour\u2019s book, or email them to Diane Livoti on or before September 30<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>25 hours for one horse per year<\/li>\n<li>40 hours for two per year<\/li>\n<li>New members owe at a rate of 2.25 hours per month (For example a member accepted to OHA on August 1, 2018 would owe 4.5 hours at the end of September -2 months x 2.25=4.5 )<\/li>\n<li>Members are permitted to pay for up to 50% of their hours, payment should be submitted to the OHA PO Box<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Work Parties:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>August 4 &#8211; Prepare for the Hay Delivery<\/p>\n<p>If you can\u2019t attend \u2013 please prepare your pasture\u2019s hay area in advance<\/p>\n<p>August 18 \u2013 Hay Tarping<\/p>\n<p>If you can\u2019t attend \u2013 please tarp your hay pile in advance<\/p>\n<p><strong>All Members<\/strong>: Hay preparation and tarping is the shared responsibility of all members:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Know your pasture team- It is everyone\u2019s responsibility to be aware of the work, rotation schedule and preparations needed for their pasture<\/li>\n<li>Pasture Teams are responsible for hay area preparation and tarping<\/li>\n<li>If you aren\u2019t assigned to a pasture that has hay being delivered \u2013 please reach out to other pastures to assist with this task (or plan to attend the work parties on August 4 &amp; 18)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Pasture Teams<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Please be aware of and keep in touch with your pasture team. There are several moves coming up, and it is the team\u2019s responsibility to prepare the pastures, and ensure any maintenance is done in preparation for moves. (Teams are posted on the website)<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>MINUTES<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Board\u00a0Members Present:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 Wakean, Linda, Heather, Sally, Diane, Page and Anna<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Proposed Agenda\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 Approved<\/li>\n<li><strong>Meeting Minutes\u00a0<\/strong>from last meeting were approved<\/li>\n<li><strong>Review Planning Grid<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Feeding Schedule-\u00a0<\/strong>Allison Bloodworth has volunteered to take on this task \u2013 Thank you Allison. Last year the board noted generally positive feedback on the first come, first serve self-sign up process. (Less swapping of dates, positive feedback overall) The board would like to continue self-signup process. Please keep an eye out for information about feeding sign ups from Allison. Feeding begins in September.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hay Ordering<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 David Curto is coordinating orders\n<ol>\n<li>Pasture Teams are responsible for the following:\n<ul>\n<li>Preparing hay areas<\/li>\n<li>Preparing tarping<\/li>\n<li>Tarping<\/li>\n<li>Monitoring hay piles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>It is a crucial weeding time for yellow star and teasel (Contact Suzette or Erica for areas to focus on)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Membership Issues:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Eddie has interviews scheduled for the July 20<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0(Result of this was Bob was accepted)<\/li>\n<li>Cheryl has given up Fazon\u2019s space (she retains 1 space)<\/li>\n<li>Open Spaces \u2013Eddie is working on filling the two open spaces<\/li>\n<li>The wait list is getting shorter \u2013 the board decided we aren\u2019t going to advertise, but we will add our name to the barn directory on BayEquest.com and TWHA<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>EBMUD<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Orinda inspected the bridge, and determined it was in decent condition<\/li>\n<li>We are continuing to ask the city to post the GVW allowed on the bridge<\/li>\n<li>EBMUD is grading the pasture\u2019s existing roads<\/li>\n<li>Wakean will confirm if we are allowed to drive on the new road (it was not allowed by EBMUD originally)<\/li>\n<li>EBMUD said thank you for clearing the pond drain<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Treasurer\u2019s Report<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Hay Payment \u2013 Thank you to everyone who paid for hay \u2013 we still need members who have not paid \u2013 payment is due when hay is purchased<\/li>\n<li>Diane\/Page are working on putting together a budget \u2013 will share in the next week or so<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Grazing rotation<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Erica will work on the GP for next year<\/li>\n<li>David Curto is working on ordering hay<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Capital Improvement Projects<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>The red barn repairs are largely repaired \u2013 Wakean continues to work on this<\/li>\n<li>Ring Pasture Fence \u2013 Wakean and Linda will coordinate repairs to ring pasture<\/li>\n<li>Lower Pasture corral \u2013 we are going to do no climb between pasture\/paddock, and the rest of the paddock will have e-fence inside of the existing boundary fencing.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Projects<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Animal ramps \u2013 while the board appreciates the idea of saving animals, this has not been a problem in our pastures, and after a thoughtful discussion, and concerns expressed by members, we are not interested at this time in having ramps installed, but we will continue to watch and observe if it is a potential problem and may revisit in the future<\/li>\n<li>Refuse removal \u2013 Caitlin has volunteered to make a monthly trip to the dump \u2013 we are going to take her up on her offer \u2013 Thank you Caitlin<\/li>\n<li>Many projects and repairs are underway around the pasture \u2013 it is important to remember that horses are not supposed to be loose in saddling areas. Leaving horses loose in these areas, poses risks \u2013 these areas have vehicles travelling through them, and equipment may be lying on the ground which is not safe. Members should be aware of their surroundings, and use caution \u2013 particularly when work is in progress. As always \u2013 horses should not be left unsupervised or loose in saddling areas.<\/li>\n<li>Work Parties &#8211; August 4 &amp; 18 (Information in reminder above)<\/li>\n<li>Back 40 Corral \u2013 Larry has offered to help lead the effort to build a shelter<\/li>\n<li>Hay Tent \u2013 Michael Bowen has offered us a free hay tent, and the board has accepted this<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Emergency Preparedness<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Evacuation Planning \u2013 The board is beginning to explore a mutual agreement between OHA, MHA and RR so that in the instance our or their pasture is severely burned\/scorched we would have alternative places to go. This idea is in its infancy \u2013 and we are going to reach out to MHA and RR to see if they have any interest in developing a reciprocal evacuation proposal. Anna will lead this with the support of Page, and Linda as a sub-comitee. Once they have contacted the other pastures, they will develop a recommendation, present it to the board, and then bring it to EBMUD.
