We are working with EBMUD to try to adjust rotation schedule to maintain the health of the herd.<\/li>\n<li>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<b>If you\u2019re driving on the pasture \u2013\u00a0<\/b>please be cautious of the tall, and rapidly drying grass, even on the roads. A hot vehicle engine with this tall grass could be disastrous.<\/li>\n<li>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Please be sure to lock gates when entering\/exiting. Especially those in the pavilion.<\/li>\n<li>4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<b>Stall procedures<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 As of late, there has been a lot of interest in stalls. If you need a stall in an emergency, and none are available, you should contact the owner of the horse first. If you can\u2019t reach the owner, contact the president, and if not the president, contact the board.\u00a0Do not simply add your horse into an occupied paddock or stall without getting approval from the owner, and if they\u2019re not available contact the president or a board member.\u00a0Adding a horse to a small space with another can pose a risk to horse safety. \u00a0If a dispute about priorities still occurs, the Pres. (or Board member) will decide the best next steps. More detailed rules about stall allocation, usage are spelled out in the rules. Members are encouraged to review and understand these.<\/li>\n<li>5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<b>Check out the new website before the old one goes away!\u00a0<\/b>We are delaying the plan to sunset the old website until June. A small tack box or one other item is reasonable, but storing saddles, bridles, etc\u2026 is not ok.<\/p>\n<p>c)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Hay and shavings should not be stored in the tuff shed\/white shed.<\/p>\n<p><b>10)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><b>OHA Website<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 The board decided to extend the pilot testing for another month.<\/p>\n<p><b>11)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>Elise asked for and was granted an extension to\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_753626358\"><span class=\"aQJ\">July 1<\/span><\/span>\u00a0to fill her space, and the board approved this.<\/p>\n<p><b>12)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><b>Grazing rotation<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 members have expressed concerns about the richness of the grass in our post drought state. \u00a0While the horses are scheduled to move\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_753626359\"><span class=\"aQJ\">tomorrow<\/span><\/span>\u00a0several alternatives were brought forward to reduce the current obesity and concerns over laminitis. It was proposed to:<\/p>\n<p>a)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Move the horses back to the already grazed lower Sullivan til\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_753626360\"><span class=\"aQJ\">May 30<\/span><\/span>\u00a0(skipping yesterday\u2019s move to the Lower). The thought process behind this was that the Lower grass (rye) will continue to dry out and have less carbohydrates in July.<\/p>\n<p>b)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Move to the Pear Orchard\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_753626361\"><span class=\"aQJ\">May 30<\/span><\/span>, and then back to the Lower once the pear has been grazed down.<\/p>\n<p>c)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0We need to have the horses in and out of the pear orchard before the fourth of July (high fire season). The predominant oat grass in the Pear is already drying out and should have even less carbohydrates next week.<\/p>\n<p>d)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0We will need to get EBMUD\u2019s permission and will keep everyone updated.<\/p>\n<p><b>13)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>Pear Orchard Grazing Rules Reminder: The OHA Rules state:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<i>Members wanting to keep their horse(s) in a paddock or stall during the rotation to the Pear Orchard pasture must have a valid medical reason (for the horse or the owner) to do so.
