MINUTES

Board Members Present:   Wakean, Linda, Heather, Sally, Diane, Page and Anna

    1. Proposed Agenda – Approved

  • Meeting Minutes from last meeting were approved
  • Review Planning Grid – Begin preparing for hay order.  Heather to email Dave Curto to start the annual process.

    1. Membership Issues:
      1. Larry Hunt attended the board meeting, and his probation has been extended.

  • JoAnn has asked to resign her membership due to health issues, and return to the wait list. The board agreed to this.

      1. Gary/Trish have leased their space to Anna and continue to look for a horse of their own.
      2. Rebecca Clyde has resigned her membership
      3. Eddie is working on filling the two open spaces

  • EBMUD

      1. Wakean is working on getting the bridge inspected/labeled for load (currently it does not have appropriate signage which may prevent a fire truck from crossing it in an emergency).  Kerry at EBMUD contacted Orinda Fire and asked them to inspect the bridge.
      2. EBMUD has approved mowing the ring and hemlock/thistle in the upper pasture

  • Treasurer’s Report

      1. Dues Payment – We have multiple members who have not paid for March, Diane will be contacting those members. Dues are now late, and a $10 per month fee will be added to payment.
      2. Hay Payment – Thank you to everyone who paid for hay – we still need members who have not paid
    1. Grazing rotation
      1. EBMUD has approved us to use the ring pasture for temporary housing for the chronically obese horses. Members should contact Heather if they would like to add their horse to the ring pasture.
      2. Move to Pear Orchard – horses not going to the lower pear need to provide a vet’s note (email this to the board).  Also let Heather know if your horse will be going to the Upper Sullivan instead of the Upper Pear.

  • Facilities Issues

      1. Beer can paddock – we would like to build a “no climb” fence between the pasture and the paddock, with a wooden fence around the rest of the paddock. However, wood fence is expensive and labor intensive to install.  In addition, EBMUD is not in favor of wood fencing around the paddock. Wakean will check in with EBMUD to see if we can install an electric fence inside the barb-wire fence around the paddock perimeter (we would still install the no-climb section between the paddock and the pasture).
      2. Long’s fence line – Cheryl, Fred, Anna and David repaired the fencing between OHA and Long’s pasture – thank you!

  • Capital Improvements

      1. Ring Pasture – Linda is working to coordinate repair
      2. Red Barn Repairs – Tanya has offered to haul out the junk in the red barn area
        1. Needs a coat of red paint
      3. White Shed – needs to be cleaned and have additional rat proofing done
    1. Dues – the board will be discussing the amount of dues in the fall; an increase may be necessary to  accommodate the cost of hay, hay tents, back forty division and other projects.
  1. Next Board Meeting – Monday, June 11, 7PM at Diane’s House – 7379 Terrace Drive, El Cerrito, 94530
  2. General Membership Meeting – September 8 2018
