OHA Annual Meeting Minutes

September 18, 2018

Thank yous –

  1. President’s Thank yous and summary of updated for the year:
    1. Linda – work on supporting the board with pasture teams
    2. Diane – for being backup treasurer
    3. Page  – Work as treasurer
    4. Erica – for work on pasture management
    5. Eddie – as membership secretary
    6. Anna – Emergency chair and secretary work
    7. Everyone who took on a project and took ownership of it
    8. Heather – for taking on the role of president
    9. Capital improvements – we got them all done (Mowing, pulling weeds, red barn repairs)
    10. Additional Repairs completed this year:
      1. Back 40 cover
      2. New Hay Tent
      3. Old Stall refurbishment
    11. New members  welcomed:

    15. Members Leaving – Liz Strauss & Kirsten Whittset
    16. Morris has resigned his space, and has become an honorary member.
      1. Morris was one of our longest members, and has contributed significantly in many wats over the years contributing hundreds of hours.
    17. Dues due Sept 15 (Late on Sept 30)
    18. Work Hours – Due at the end of the month – tracking has been adjusted per EBMUD request to understand how many and the type of hours on the pasture
      1. Horses should be getting dental checks at Fall Clinic
    19. Task Sign up  – We will post these online and solicit members to participation
    20. Treasurer’s Report – attached below
    21. EBMUD Report – Kerrie Blackwell is our ranger
    22. EBMUD Improvements – Wakean
      1. New Road is available ONLY when it is dry
      2. Please don’t use the new road if you slip, spin or it is wet
      3. It is ok to lead horses in and out via new road, so long as it isn’t wet.
      4. Beer Can – EBMUD oked an electric fence (had a naturalist come and inspect for approval)
      5. Ring pasture re-do was oked by EBMUD to use in an emergency.
      6. EBMUD will be up on 9/16 to inspect capital improvements (Red Barn Repairs and Ring Fencing)
      7. We did a considerable amount of weeding, and hand weeding, repairs to the ring pasture, and repairs to the red barn.
    23. Grazing Rotation – Erica
      1. Erica Reviewed the Grazing plan – available on the website
      2. Several members expressed serious concerns over Tier 3 grazing being a leading caase of ongoing concerns over horse obesity and the recent concerns with laminitis these past couple of years. Erica highlighted that we were close to tier 3 in prior plan, and that more frequent rotation does not increase laminitic tendencies.
    24. Feeding Schedule – Allison B
      1. Feeding schedule is out
      2. Please review and become familiar with the feeding process
    25. Emergency Preparedness Postponed due to time
