Board Meeting Minutes 6-11-2018

Priorities for this party will be:
- Ring Pasture fence
- Weeding
- Back forty second gate
Pasture Teams – Please be aware of and keep in touch with your pasture team. There are several moves coming up, and it is the team’s responsibility to prepare the pastures, and ensure any maintenance is done in preparation for moves.
MINUTES
Board Members Present: Wakean, Linda, Heather, Sally, Diane, Page and Anna
- Proposed Agenda – Approved
- Meeting Minutes from last meeting were approved
- Review Planning Grid
- Herd Move – Heather will confirm that wormers are being ordered for herd move from PO Up
- Feeding Schedule – Heather will confirm Allison B. will manage this
- Hay Ordering – David Curto will coordinate orders
- Pasture Teams will manage tarping
- Membership Issues:
- Interview – The board interviewed Anna Jergins as a potential associate member for Lisa and approved her.
- Open Spaces –Eddie is working on filling the two open spaces
- Gary/Trish are sharing a horse with Anna
- Rebeca Clyde – has resigned her membership
- EBMUD
- Wakean and Michael did three mowings of thistle and hemlock this year
- EBMUD would like to mow scotch broom in old dairy – they will work with Erica on this
- Wakean is working on getting the bridge inspected/labeled for load (currently it does not have appropriate signage which may prevent a fire truck from crossing it in an emergency)
- Grazing reports are completed and submitted to EBMUD
- Treasurer’s Report
- Dues Payment – The treasurers are contacting members with outstanding dues
- Hay Payment – Thank you to everyone who paid for hay – we still need members who have not paid
- Diane/Page are working on putting together a budget – will share in the next week or so
- Grazing rotation
- Confinement Plan – we are through the busiest time of year, and there seemed to be enough spaces for all. Thanks to Heather for being the coordinator of the shuffling.
- Herd Split – Herd is splitting to US and Pear – Please watch for emails and respond as needed.
- Facilities Issues
- Beer can paddock –Wakean is waiting to hear from EBMUD what can be done to make this safe.
- Page will ask the US pasture committee to check and repair fences before the move.
- Linda will manage/remind pasture teams to prepare pastures as needed in advance of moves.
- Capital Improvements
- Ring Pasture – Linda is working to coordinate additional repairs. Thanks to those who jumped in and made some emergency fixes at the recent fencing party.
- Projects
- Car port – the board approved Tanya’s proposal for purchase of the car port. Based on its density/construction it will either be used as a shelter in the back 40, or as a hay tent.
- Chris Ellsworth Clinic
- The board voted that during the clinic – the arena will be reserved for those attending the clinic. For safety purposes members should not turn their horse out dring the clinic.
- The board discussed visitors – everyone who attends this clinic must be a member. They can join as a temporary member the day of the clinic, but must complete the paperwork for this, and sign a liability waiver. EBMUD does not allow guests at the pasture.
- Cheryl is managing the clinic, and Heather will confirm with her that she will be the point person to ensure all people attending are members, and sign liability releases before entering OHA property.
- Next Board Meeting – Monday, July 16, 7PM at Anna’s House – 264 Castle Hill Ranch Road, Walnut Creek- Members wishing to attend should RSVP
